Photographs have always been an integral part of most people\u2019s lives. From reminding them of childhoods that they can\u2019t quite remember, to documenting memories of important events in their lives, it\u2019s hard to think of a world where photographs didn\u2019t exist.<\/p>\n

With over 350 million photographs being uploaded to Facebook every day, it\u2019s easy to see how popular taking photographs has become, and it\u2019s no longer just a job for professionals\u2026 everyone can get involved.<\/p>\n

The exciting thing about being able to capture a moment in a photograph is the power that a single image can hold. Think about it; you\u2019ve just captured a moment in time in a still image that can be kept for a lifetime. We\u2019d say that\u2019s pretty powerful stuff.<\/p>\n

Society is Photo Reliant <\/b><\/p>\n

We are now in a society that documents every aspect of our lives; the good, the bad and the ugly. 200 years ago, this would be a strange notion to those lucky enough to have a camera who would need to stand and wait for the image to be developed onto the film.<\/p>\n

With so many gadgets incorporating cameras into their design, it\u2019s no wonder this generation have become reliant on being able to capture a moment at the click of a button. No matter if it\u2019s capturing an important moment in history or simply a picture documenting the amazing day with your friends, don\u2019t let anyone tell you that your photo doesn\u2019t matter.<\/p>\n

Learning is Key<\/b><\/p>\n

We can learn a lot about looking through photographs. The popular phrase \u201ca picture is worth a thousand words” is alarmingly true, \u00a0especially to those which are taken during some of the most sensitive moments in history.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t have to be familiar with a photograph to get an overall feel for the emotion behind it. One of the most famous photographs depicting a Chinese protester standing in front of People\u2019s Liberation Army tanks in Tiananmen Square in 1989 shows just how powerful a static image can be. We weren\u2019t there, but the photograph captures the tense moment perfectly by being simplistic and to the point; we can feel the tension oozing from the picture without a single word needing to be added.<\/p>\n
