Capturing Wedding Memories: The Shots That You Must Have (Part 1)

Planning a wedding is both stressful and exciting. By the time the big day comes around, you just want to be able to relax and enjoy your special day. However, it can sometimes go by so quickly that you rely on photographs to keep the memories.

Most people will hire a photographer for their wedding, and entrust this person to capture all the moments that you don’t want to forget. However, we believe it can be a good idea to make a list of the shots you definitely want to have so that they’re not forgotten on the day. There’s nothing worse than looking through your photos after the wedding and realising that you forgot to get a picture of your great aunt who you see once every few years.

That’s why we have put together this new two part series, in which we have compiled a guide to some of the most popular shots that will make perfect wedding photos.

The Morning Of

This is the perfect opportunity to take a lot of the candid photos. If you have the photographer for the whole day, then take advantage of this during the morning of your big day.

Getting ready is stressful, and you can often get so caught up in the rushing that you don’t really remember it afterwards. This is why we recommend making sure that you take lots of photos during this period.

Popular ones include taking photos of both bride and bridesmaids having their hair and makeup done, and the bride in her dress when she first puts it on.

The Wedding

These photos are still likely to be mostly candid, as the ‘posed for’ photos generally come before the reception. Tell your photographer to take pictures of the guests arriving, and also when all the guests are seated.

Photos of the bridesmaids walking down the aisle, flower girls and page boys, and of course the bride herself, are always brilliant pictures to have.

You will also want pictures of the groom and his best man stood at the front, and a clear picture of his reaction when the bride is walking down the aisle.

Other perfect photos to have are those taken during the actual ceremony, when you are saying your vows, exchanging rings and the kiss at the end.
