Summer Photography Tips (Part 1)
Summer is finally here, and that means it time to get out there and get photographing! That’s because the summer season is the ideal time to brush up on your photography skills and head outside with your camera.
But that said, summer photography can present its own particular set of challenges, after all, harsh daytime sunlight isn’t exactly the easiest to work with!
Stuck for inspiration this summer? Then you’re in luck, as here we’re going to take a look at some tops tips for improving your summer photography – so you can snap some great photos that you will be proud of!

Master Your Timing
Want to become a lighting master? Then you are going to want to get to grips with one important element – timing. That’s right, when it comes to getting the right lighting for your photographs timing is key, and this is particularly important during the summer months.
Paying attention to factors, such as when the sun will rise/set and how light affects and illuminates objects at different times of the day, will help you to determine the best times to photograph particular scenes, so you can create more interesting photographs.

Banish Shadows
It’s worth bearing in mind that direct summer sunlight can be a little harsh and unflattering, and tends to create heavy shadow. Thus it does not always make for the best photos! With this in mind, you might want to seek out some shade when taking your photographs.
Alternatively, if this is not an option, whilst it may seem a little odd, using the flash on your camera can actually be a big help. The extra light from your cameras flash will help to banish any shadows. Many cameras also allow you to modify the intensity of the flash output, so you might want to try toning the intensity of the flash on your camera down a little bit for the best effect.
Colour It Beautiful
The summer season is all about bright, vibrant colours, and this is something you should aim to capture in your photographs too.
There a number of ways you can maximise the colour saturation in your photos and take shots that feature more intense and varied hues. Lens hoods in particular are a fantastic option for this.
Alternatively, simply try shading your camera with your hand – making sure it does not cover the frame of course – simple! This way you can capture those beautiful blue skies, glorious green fields and breathtaking landscapes in all their rich multi-toned glory.
