Liven Up Landscapes

It can be all too easy to fall into the pattern of shooting landscapes in the same way over and over again. But this doesn’t always make for the most interesting photos.

It’s  always a good idea to try to cook up new ways of shooting landscapes,  so you can avoid relying too much on techniques that will produce predictable photos.

So with this in mind, try experimenting with your landscape photography and see what you can create.

For example, you can create some beautiful landscapes photos by taking a little extra time to master the art of shadow and shade.

Summer evenings are the perfect time to get out there and explore the natural landscapes in your area.

That’s because making use of the low sun and long shadows it casts will add extra depth to your landscape photos, revealing extra textures and details that would otherwise be lost when the sun is at its brightest.

Go On A Wildlife Safari

You don’t need to go abroad to capture some great wildlife shots this summer. In fact, you probably won’t need to go any further than your own backyard!

Your garden is probably crawling with intriguing insects at this time of year so why not head out there and see what you can find.

Insects can make for truly fascinating subjects, and what’s more, they’re not as difficult to capture as you might think.

The key to developing an eye for these small things – asides from a powerful zoom – is taking the time to get to know your subject so that you can choose the right time to take the perfect shot.

Fun Food Photography

Food photography is growing increasingly popular and shows no signs of going stale anytime soon. So why not try your hand at incorporating a little food inspiration into your photographs?

When it comes to food photography the devil really is in the detail and it’s important to think about how the shapes and colours of the ingredients you use will complement each other. Take care to consider everything that will make up the image too, from the ingredient selection to the composition and lighting.

But that said, don’t stage your photos too much, as this will leave them looking a little too forced and unnatural. Instead try adding a small number of less than perfect elements such as a few scattered or broken items to add a touch of realness.
