How to Make More Time for Photography

No matter how much you try to tell us that you have no time for photography in your busy schedule, we will always disagree.

If you are really passionate about photography and have a real urge to include it in your life, you will find a way to slot it seamlessly into your daily schedule. Are you one of those people who don’t believe you can? Then read on and find out some easy ways to carry on your favourite hobby while still fulfilling your daily obligations!

Schedule Photography Time

One of the main ways to get more photography time in your schedule is to put aside some time and prioritise it within your plans for the day.

Pen it into your diary and treat it like you would any other important task that you would have to complete. If you have taken time out of your schedule specifically for photography, it becomes harder to swap it out for another task which can happen if you half-heartedly say to yourself “I might get some photography done today”.

It Doesn’t Have to be Perfect

Don’t hang around and wait for the perfect moment to happen before you whip your camera out and decide to have a photo shoot.

Although you may have a specific idea in your head of what you are wanting to photograph, holding yourself back until all those conditions are met means that you will possibly miss out on other potentially great shots.

Don’t be afraid to snap a photo even though the conditions are less than ideal, there’s always post production that can help make your photo even more perfect. If the opportunity presents itself- take it!

Take Your Camera With You

You never know when you might find yourself with unexpected free time, so our next tip for making time for photography is to keep a camera with you at all times.

We’ve all been in a situation where we have wished we’d had a camera handy, so the solution is to make sure that we always have access to one. At work, at parties even when you are taking a walk somewhere you’ve been a thousand times, you never know when you may see something that you want to capture!

You don’t even need to have a huge, fancy camera- a simple point and shoot can capture the moment perfectly!

Motivate Yourself

The only way that you will get more photography done is to want to do it.

If you are finding it difficult to find the motivation to take photos, then you won’t want to take photos. Find what motivates you; whether it be following photography challenges or joining a photography group, you’ll feel more inspired and more likely to get out there and snap some photos!

Photography is an activity that you need to want to do, and the problem many people have is that they don’t feel motivated but still insist on going out and snapping photos which they then aren’t happy with. This makes them uninspired and can even lead to them looking to sell their cameras, especially when their passion for their hobby has gone.
