How to Take the Perfect Christmas Snaps
Christmas is getting closer and closer every day, and will soon be upon us. Making sure you practise photography tips ahead of time will guarantee you are ready for the festive season. You’ll be sure to capture all of the important moments with your loved ones!
Look Outside Your Home
While Christmas with your loved ones is the most important moment to capture, photographing the scenery and the Christmas decorations outside of your home will paint a bigger picture of the spirit of the season. You will also get more practice with your camera while observing the stunning decorations!

Think About Lighting
During the season, you are likely to hang up many lights to decorate your Christmas tree and your home. Balance the lighting in your home so it doesn’t overpower the Christmas lights; you might find that you need to place your Christmas tree next to a window to be able to properly catch the lights on the tree.
Similarly, if your indoor lighting is too strong, you might find that the flash from your camera interferes with your photos. Keep the lights on your Christmas tree switched on and the ISO low, to minimise the ‘noise’ on your photos.
Capture the Entire Day
Christmas photos are beautiful, especially ones of the all-important Christmas meal. However, the entire day is filled with joyful and fun family moments you’ll want to preserve forever. Starting before you set up the table and your guests arrive will give you a stunning time-lapse photo sequence, in addition to capturing all the important stages of the day.
Photographing the gift wrapping, the food preparation, and the setting up the rest of the decorations shows how the Christmas spirit increases during the day.

Zoom In on the Details
Panoramic shots of the room are beautiful, and they capture all of the Christmas buzz in your home. The small details can, however, sometimes be lost in the hustle and bustle of the season, and getting close to what you’re photographing will let you record everything!
You can zoom in on one of the Christmas trees’ baubles – and catch your reflection on it – and get a great shot of a small detail. Some of the most gorgeous shots can be found in the food on the table, a centrepiece, or a Christmas decoration you love. Close-ups provide a different insight into the magic of Christmas.
