How to Upgrade Your Tablet

Has your current tablet come to the end of its life? Are you looking for an upgrade? Whether you want an iPad or another tablet, it is always important to consider your needs before making a rash purchase. A tablet is a long term investment and should be treated as such.

What should you consider when buying a tablet? How can you tell the good from the bad?

Screen Size

Size depends on your needs, no size is a be all and end all for everyone. A smaller tablet may suit you better for travelling, or a larger one may be better if you wish to view movies or television shows on it. An iPad Air, Galaxy Tab or Google Nexus is perfect for anyone who needs a bigger tablet for daily life. For the smaller needs there is, of course, an iPad Mini, or alternatively, the Kindle Fire is also a great tablet. It is integrated with Amazon to make everything on it easy to install or purchase. Adding a Bluetooth keyboard is also an option if you wish to write on your tablet.

Memory

If you are buying a tablet to simply browse the internet, a simple 8GB will be more than enough to support the few apps you will need. If you have plans to download a full catalogue of movies? Then you will more than definitely need a larger memory bank. A tablet can have an astonishing 128GB at its highest, which should be more than enough for any needs that you may have. Android tablets have an SD card slot, so the storage is far more expandable beyond this limit than the Apple alternatives. So, for something with a lot more memory capabilities you should consider exploring outside the realms of the more popular Apple choices.

Data

If you have plans to travel with your tablet, you will need data. Not everywhere (shockingly) provides Wi-Fi. So, if a lot of travelling is in your future then it is best to invest in a good data plan now. It will cost you between £20-£30 a month; depending on your provider and the size of data you need. Most people, however, will not need data and can survive with simple Wi-Fi. This removes the cost of data plans, but also tablets without data capabilities are usually cheaper.
